So you’re a Louisianian who wants to learn French (or Creole?*)…. you’re not alone!
Check out this graphic we created with some help from our friends at MakeMade! We used the metaphor of preparing a dish because language learning is a process that can look different based on what your goals are and what resources you have available. You also need to put a lot of different ingredients into it. If you have all the ingredients except for celery, can you still make a gumbo? Sure. But if celery is the only ingredient you have? Well, it’s pretty hard to make a gumbo. In the same way, if you find a particular resource doesn’t suit your needs, you can use a variety of other resources and still reach your language learning goals. However, if you pour all your energy into one resource - a particular app, for instance - you may find that you get pretty good at that app, but still struggle to converse, to read a newspaper, to understand a song, etc.
Explore this site and find the ingredients you like, the resources that work for you. We’ll be posting to this blog and adding new resources regularly, so stay tuned!
*We'll have news about more Creole/Kourivini resources coming soon!
